- Defense Finance and Accounting Service (DFAS) is the world's largest finance and accounting operation, providing services for the Department of Defense military services - Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps - and other Defense agencies.

- DFAS Columbus is the most modern DFAS facility in the nation, currently employing more than 2,000 individuals. Its building was dedicated in 1999 and is located on the beautiful campus of the DSCC, a 550-acre Federal complex.

- How do I apply for a job?
- Employees that are interested in moving to an enduring DFAS site need to fill out the mobility survey located at located here on the e-portal. The enduring site will receive a bi-weekly report of interested employees from which they can make offers from. Time limited employees must apply on vacancy announcements that are posted out on the USAJOBS.com website.
- Do I get to keep my current grade?
- If you are moving with the workload that is transferring to Columbus you will be guaranteed your current grade and series. If not, DFAS Columbus can only make you the best possible offer.

- While accounting degrees are preferred, the main educational requirement is that you have completed 24 semester hours in accounting (up to 6 semesters of Business Law can be credited).

The amount of time it takes to fill a job differs for each case. This is the general timeline for the majority of vacant jobs:
- A job announcement stays open for 7 days.
- Management requests a referral 5 days from the day the job announcement is closed.
- HR issues the referrals to the manager 9 days from the date the referral was requested.
- The manager makes a selection 15 days from the date the referral was issued.*
- Issuance of the candidate’s security clearance normally takes 30 days from the date the job offer was accepted.**
*There is great variability in the selection time for jobs. Managers may request that the time for selection be extended to more than 20 days.
